Ode to tea

tea tastes best in your mother's kitchen
from the familiar weight in your hands
to the leaky tea pot
the frizz of steam, hot and dark
the clink of the teaspoon, 
the older-than-my-memory sugar pot 
with it's cracks, 
like wrinkles,
where it was dropped and re-glued countless times
a lot like the family
dropped
re-glued
we stick together
with love
and grace
and mercy

Rainbow life

On our wedding day it rained and rained and just as we said "I do" it stopped raining and then it rained confetti..... and as we were having our photographs taken, a rainbow arched across the sky.... every rainbow reminds me of that day....
